Judith Haugwitz in her krama and with baby Karl, Berlin 2010
Judith Haugwitz, speechwriter to Germany Federal Minister of Health, very cool and natural in her krama, taking baby Karl for a walk in their neighborhood in Berlin, 2010.

Cambodian Living Arts festival at Chaktomuk Theatre... young people in their colorful kramas, Aug. 2010.

The regal, iconic former palace ballet dancer Em Theay here wrapped in a royal blue silk krama (photo: Any Brouwer).   She is a constant presence at Lauk Pou Son Soubert's Children Peace Home in Sre Ampil since my first visit in 1995.  I remember being mesmerized by her elegance as she teaches the students, even in her simple, unadorned attire and the rural village setting.

The amazingly talented Cambodian-American singer Bochan Huy (a Cambodian Aretha Franklin breaking into mainstream American music scene, click on to listen and be amazed! also, her music video just came out - of course sashaying her krama !) of Oakland, California wears her krama with an attitude - the only way to wear it!  "I've always loved Khmer kramas and silk scarves.  Wearing one has always given me a sense of culture and identity."

Theary Seng with Rotary Peace Fellow, Rosemarie, 6 Sept. 2010
Rotary Peace Fellows at Chulalongkorn University, a lawyer from Michigan Nancy Wonch (above) and Rosemaria Carlozzi of Italy, wrapped in their kramas with Theary Seng after an engaging afternoon at CIVICUS: Center for Cambodian Civic Education / Center for Justice & Reconciliation (Phnom Penh, 6 Sept. 2010).  Tito Revereal (pictured below) gave each of the 16 Rotary Peace Fellows a Khmer krama and recently informed that all are proudly wearing theirs in their respective country.

Emmanuel Jacomy, Singapore, 8 Dec. 2010
When not billing millions for Shearman and Sterling LLP (Singapore), Emmanuel Jacomy represents pro bono civil parties in the Extraordinary Chambers (ECCC)(Singapore, 8 Dec. 2010).

Lauren Shaw, Mimi Edmunds (Phnom Penh, 1 Jan. 2011)
Two beautiful, talented filmmakers of Angkor's Children - Prof. Lauren Shaw of Emerson College and Mimi Edmunds (former producer for CBS 60 Minutes) - styling in their classical silk kramas, with Lauren's partner Paul Feinberg in the background.  Dinner at Theary's, 1 Jan. 2011.

Andy Brouwer, product manager of Hanuman Tourism, has many kramas and style choices.

Do I count?  Yes! It helps that this little girl is nicely wrapped in Sobbhana Boutique high-end silk.

We count too, don't we? Well-regarded artist Hen Sophal's oil painting Orphans, in a krama sling.

Very cool !  Kym Thach proudly, suavely parties in it - New Year's Eve, 2009, Washington, DC.

Krama Knyong Gallery Hayama House (Japan):
"Krama knyong is a group of three women who love cloth, travelling and living. We fell in love with krama and the smiles of Cambodian people and came together to spread it. Ms. Natsumi Nakamura is a weaver and is an expert in cloth. Ms. Reiko Ebato is the owner of the Hayama House, and has long been involved in Asian hand craft. And I, (Ms. Wakana Morita) am in charge of taking the photos, designing and the web work.  All the krama of "krama"knyong are hand woven in Cambodia, and the weavers are all women. They use traditional wooden weaving machines and weave each krama carefully, one by one.  We hope to create a cycle of happiness, where the weavers enjoy the process of creating, the promoters (us) enjoy promoting them, and the users enjoy using them."

Cambodian-American Khiang H. Hei of New York City:  "The krama is my favorite thing for walking or hiking in the deep jungle.  I have been walking on the Ho Chi Minh Trail in Laos and northern Cambodia since 1992 photographing."

Illustrator of educational comics John Weeks warming himself with his krama and Flames of Peace - a beautiful sight to behold, weapons of war burning (Cambodia, April 2004)

How many kramas do you own ?!

The Flute Player Arn Chorn Pond makes beautiful music with it (above); with Phloeun and CLA friends (below)
